This is the first of a series of 2 hour evening life-drawing sessions run by Claudia in Monmouth (just 15 minutes up the road from where I live). Apart from its closeness to home there is another advantage, it means that as the evenings get dark and one cannot work outside, then productive use can be made of the time. Claudia creates a good atmosphere which is also helped by it taking place in the well worn art room of the boys school. Reminds me of when I first went to the Drawing School in St Ives, Cornwall, many years ago, to spend time in a studio which had accumulated decades of charcoal and paint on its floor, and full of memories and evidence of the presence of outstanding artists. I wrote about my experience at the time (see a very early posting on this blog).
A favorite muse of mine presented a number of very quick poses which then got longer as the evening moved on, ending with a half-hour lying pose.
I'm not going to record any observations on my drawings this time. The first two or so are responses to a moving model. Then the rest start with a fine-liner pen in each hand, some charcoal tonal work goes in and caressed with the finger, followed by 4B/6B graphite pencil to give emphasis where appropriate.
